Mixed Media

Project 1

on canvas I used tissue paper, silk cloth and pasted them down for texture, then newspaper, wooden flowers and grass pasted onto canvas, I painted acrylic flowers onto the background, then used markers and acrylic paint pens to create designs in the negative space.

“United Garden”

Mixed Media

project 2

A 16x20 canvas; using black tissue paper, acrylic paint, alcohol markers, rocks, wooden hearts, decorative paper, egg cartons and attached with modeling paste. This is a continued study that I enlarged based off of my project 1 titled “United Garden”. In this piece I show texture, repetition, dimension, movement, and contrast. I have carried over similarities from the first project.

“River of Love”

Mixed media Project 3

“A Chicken’s Worm Dance”

This project was created beginning with needle felting wool roving, I then placed bits of egg carton underneath and black tissue paper glued to the front. Wool yarn was felted into the roving. I melted wax and poured and formed it on for the chicken eyes, beak and crown, modeling pasted was used to adhere shells for the wings. I painted the cardboard backing and added torn paper and straw. The legs were created with braided wire and beads. This is a fun piece and the chicken appears to be dancing to get the really big worm.

Mixed Mesia Project 4

Sunshiny Days

This was a fun project to create. A multiple medium work done on 16x20 canvas . I used paper towel rolls, popsicle sticks, seashells, dried grass, wooden beads, acrylic paint, ice cream protector for texture. The layout reminds me of sunshine,

and the yellow bubbles make me think of the emotion happy. The blue triangles guide the viewers eyes in the work. I especially enjoy the repetition of materials and pattern throughput.
